About
An LJ community for the yearly Lemon Advent Calendar Challenge - because I don't have a website, don't want to bother with pop-ups and coding and designs, and because I think it's a "sort of easy" way to organize things.

Definition and Guidelines:

Advent calendar: noun {c}: a decorative piece of card, often hung on the wall, which has a small door-like opening for each of the days of the month before Christmas. Children open one of these doors each day, finding a picture under it.

The more well-known kind of advent calendar has alternatively chocolate or sweets under each of these openings to appeal to children in particular. In our case, this alternative would be lemony pictures or ficlets.

Of course, you can just choose to read the fics, or look at the pictures, but if everybody wants to "just watch", there won't be anything to read. This is a challenge for writers and artists to contribute to the calendar – and give them a reason to write Christmassy fluff ficlets or draw Christmas-themed pictures.

Guidelines:

  • any pairing goes, even no pairing at all
  • any fandom goes
  • the fic/art doesn't have to contain a lemon – this header just has a nice ring to it
  • the fic/art should have "Christmas" as a theme
  • there can, of course, be more than one piece of art (whether it be written or drawn) per day. There is no limit.
  • you don't have to do one for each day. One ficlet or piece of art is perfectly okay. One for each Sunday work just as well. There is no minimum or maximum amount of things to be contributed.
  • this is supposed to make the wait "sweeter", so if you feel like you have to write a deathfic or something really depressing – please, warn people first.

For more detailed information, go to the two mod posts: This one and this one.

Ground Rules:

#1, the subject line:
Put your fandom in and if you want, also the fic/art title or the pairing... Just something to let us know what the post is going to be about.
If you're writing a series, it would be nice to have a number for each day (or advent calendar window), but that's optional.
#2, we will want to know what your post is about, meaning we want a header. Here's an example (- doesn't mean you have to do it like that, just something to give us a bit of a warning what it's about):
Title:
Fandom:
Author:
Pairings:
Rating:
Warnings (if applicable):
Disclaimer:
Or, you can just put the title on top and make a list of the rest. It's up to you. You could add a summary, or a word count, or how many nipples your fic has - it's all up to you. Only Title, Pairings, Rating and Warnings are a must.
For art, if anyone's doing any, goes the same rule, except you will want to switch 'author' for 'artist' - but we do want to know if your pic is worksafe or not.
#3, everything but the header goes behind a cut. Just thought I'd tell you. Some people think 'Oh, it's just 100 words' - still, put your 100 words behind a cut, please.
#4, keep it in the community. Meaning, if you post a fic or piece of art, we'd appreciate if you didn't put a link to your own journal, but posted it directly in the community. Why? Because then I don't have to worry about having links linking to dead journals. It would be nice to have your stuff in the comm permanently, and not just until you decide it's time for a new journal name. ^_^
#5, reviewing. All authors and artists love reviews unless they turn the comments off. (That means, you can do that, dear authors and artists, no one's forcing you to accept reviews.) But, if you decide to give feedback, be nice about it. Even if this weren't a community basking in Christmas spirit, I'd still ask you to be nice and avoid being mean or hurtful when reviewing. If you can't say anything nice, just say nothing at all.
#6, be polite and tolerant. Flaming, bashing, or personal attacks will result in you moving out of the house. If there's a problem, contact me.
